DISCIPLE is an adult education program of discipline Bible study aimed at developing strong Christian discipleship.
DISCIPLE focuses on the disciple as learner, believer, follower, proclaimer, and servant.
DISCIPLE provides the fellowship of the small group for study, prayer, and preparation for servanthood.
DISCIPLE assumes that the Bible is key to renewal in the church.
DISCIPLE affirms the Bible was formed as it is in order for God to speak to us today.
DISCIPLE gives Old and New Testament equal time, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as the revelation of God.
DISCIPLE draws upon the work of scholars to aid understanding of the Bible.
The purpose of DISCIPLE is best expressed by Ephesians 4:12: To equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.

Note: There is a $35 cost for study materials.

DISCIPLE 1: Becoming Disciples of Christ through Bible Study
During the course of 34 weeks, DISCIPLE study group moves through the biblical story from Creation of Genesis to the New Jerusalem of Revelations. The participants will read more than 70 percent of the Bible. The Scripture for each session follows the chronological movement of the biblical story. DISCIPLE aims at transformation, not just information. DISCIPLE study group meets weekly for 2 hours on Sunday evening, led by Rev. Dr. Fred Morgan, senior pastor. DISCIPLE encourages persons to put themselves under the power of God's word and to be changed by God's word.

DISCIPLE 2: Into the Word into the World
This is the second study in the DISCIPLE program led by Evelyn Farmer. It is intended for persons who have completed Disciple 1: Becoming Disciples through Bible Study. The Bible is the primary text. The study encourages persons to open themselves to hearing what God has to say to them through the Bible and to be guided into their particular ministry in the world by Scripture and their study of it. This 32-week study selects specific portions of the Scripture and goes deeper into them. In-depth study of Scripture will be the work of both individual members and in weekly study group. Equal attention is given to Old and New Testament. Concentration is on four books: Genesis, Exodus, Luke and Acts, with eight sessions for each book. Appropriate connections are made to other parts of Scripture both through reading and study assignments and through the commentary in the study manual.

DISCIPLE 3: Remember Who You Are
This is the third study in the DISCIPLE program led by Ron Shaw, intended for persons who have completed Disciple 1: Becoming Disciples through Bible Study. Resident in the title is the driving idea in this study— the connection between memory and identity as the people of God. The word You in the title is meant to be heard both in its singular form (the individual) and its plural form (the community). We are a community of memory. Several themes weave their way through this study: the call to remember; the call to repentance; the need for renewed vision; and the place of community. This study concentrates on the Old Testament prophets and the letter of Paul. The prophets and Paul are continually calling their hearers and readers back to their God and to a sense of who they are as a "set apart" people.

DISCIPLE 4: Under The Tree of Life
This is the fourth study in the DISCIPLE program, designed for persons who have completed Disciple 1: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study. The 32 week study concentrates on the Writings in the Old Testaments; the New Testament Scriptures include the Gospel of John, Letters of John, James; Jude; and Revelation of John. The image of the tree of life frames the biblical story: In Genesis, in the midst of the garden, but off limits. In Revelation, on either side of the river of the water of life, with fruit to eat and leaves for the healing of the nations. The word under in the title is meant to convey invitation, welcome, sheltering, security, rest -- home at last.
