We gather in the Narthex before worship to greet, share, and laugh with one another. As you enter the Sanctuary, you will hear music chosen to help prepare your hearts and minds for worship. Our talented music leaders employ excellent music of every genre (traditional, contemporary, etc.) as they weave the classics with new favorites in our “blended” worship style. After announcements, the service begins. You will hear the scriptures read and the Word proclaimed, and will join in prayer with the community of faith. On the first Sunday of each month we celebrate Holy Communion.
How long are the worship services?
Morning services are generally 60-75 minutes.
What should I wear to worship?
Come as you are to worship the Lord! Wear whatever makes you comfortable. In keeping with Austin’s spirit, you will find us in everything from dresses, suits and ties, to jeans, shorts, and t-shirts. “Mortals look on the outward appearance but the Lord looks on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)
No. This is not our table, it is Christ’s table. All who are faithful in Christ are welcome. In the Presbyterian Church, “faithful” means all the people who confess their faith in Jesus Christ and have been baptized into the community of Jesus Christ. This includes baptized children and youth who are being taught the Word of God and nourished by faith through their families.
Where do my children go during the worship service?
Children are welcomed and encouraged to participate in the worship service. Most families attend the 11 a.m. service, which includes a Children’s Sermon during the first part of worship. Children’s Church is held for children ages four through first grade for the remainder of the service. Care for younger children (ages 0-3) is provided in the Nursery area located in the Fellowship Center. The Hope Room in the Narthex is available as a cry room to soothe a fussy baby or let a restless child roam. The service can be seen and heard from the Hope Room.
Where do I park?
Parking lots (including handicapped spaces) and on-street parking are available on both Olson Drive and Spicewood Parkway. Parking is also available across the street at Spicewood Elementary School. On Sunday mornings, the circle driveway off of Olson Drive is reserved for handicap access.
Want to know more about Hope?
Please speak with one of our ushers or pastors. They will be glad to discuss Hope with you. After worship, come to the Welcome Visitors table near the windows in the narthex to pick up an information packet. Also, feel free to call any of our staff during the week. They are here to help us all grow in our faith!
